The Register of Deeds is responsible for recording all real estate transactions in Chase County. This includes deeds, mortgages, oil and gas leases, easements, and platted additions to all cities in Chase County. This is also where financing statements and security agreements are also files. Only fixture filings pertaining to real estate are filed here, all other should be filed in the Secretary of State Office.
A deed should be recorded as promptly after the transaction. Failure to record a deed could tender the transfer or mortgaging of the property impossible and create numerous legal difficulties, although there is no time limit on recording deeds.
